Genuine question. is the role of a geisha not, even in the smallest bit patriarchal? They are beautiful, yes, but can they develop their own personality without being ostracised, and does every geimaiko have to be elegant, feminine and docile? There must be a bit of oppression going on in the karyukai. and some of the rules applied to the lovely women there are absolutely ridiculous, literally.
