the first 50 seconds of Cake - The Distance make the perfect voice training passage IMO bc it demands that you put some expression into it but starts you out in a monotone—which is something you’d rarely otherwise have occasion to do but is surprisingly foundational. THEN you have to figure out where and how to add emphasis but it’s almost a completely open-ended problem that invites you to cover the song in any style and creates lots of opportunities to serendipitously discover new vowel articu
