Political liberalism is the ideology of political losers. This is why I am, in many ways, a liberal—I believe in free speech, due process, and so on. But economic liberalism is not the ideology of economic losers. The working class, deprived of any say in the material component of their lived experience (which is determined autocratically by owners of capital) are not the natural base for laissez-faire capitalist policies. This is why one should be a libertarian socialist.
