i think there are cases where someone writes a character as autistic and doesnt actually know it at the time (basing off an autistic person they know or themselves and they don’t know this “thing” they are putting into the character is autism) however, yes a lot of retroactive confirmation is annoying. i think it’s a case-by-case thing frankly. some retroactive confirmations make a lot of sense when put in context.
