At some point over the last few years a quick 400 mile trip has become routine. 72 knot headwind this morning though so if you’re flying I suggest the opposite direction from the one I picked.original ↗

Are they multiplying? A friend heard about my adventures in learning 6502 Assembly and donated his 128 to my cause. In 1987 this is was my dream machine. Looks good next to my C64. #alwayslearningoriginal ↗

Hello Pennsylvania. I don’t know how well it comes across on video, but you could have easily been fooled into thinking this cloud layer was the frozen ground in the Arctic. TV and Internet would have you believe the sky was falling. Well I was there. It’s not.original ↗

Test fit of the tail. This whole section will probably be permanent by tomorrow. One step at a time.original ↗

Once again, popsicle sticks to help with laser alignment to the rescue. Thank you kindergarten teachers for the popsicle stick skills.original ↗

Caleb is back to working full time at the Biltmore winery to help put himself through school. He brings home a bottle of whatever they are making every day as an employee perk. Any guesses what they’re making this week?original ↗

I have to apologize for violating my personal policy of only using social media to share cool things I’m doing with friends and family. So here’s the current state of one of my many projects.original ↗

I very rarely close the door on the dog crate. Apparently in the middle of the night the dog moved to the floor and the cat decided she was a dog.original ↗

What? I only dropped hot metal on the back of my glove a tiny bit. I think I’ll switch to my welding gloves.original ↗

I keep having to scoot this rat snake off of my driveway. He has a hard time on the blacktop surface.original ↗

Left the house to come to work on this before 6 this morning as usual. Really didn’t feel like it this time but it’s not gonna build itself. Like my patriotic colored air/brake lines? #myzenith750original ↗

Talking with the CEO of Masten Aerospace (and SFF Chairman) today in a couple hours on the podcast. Anyone have any questions for him?original ↗

I spend too much of my week looking at screens. Very few things make me happier than making things with my hands. #myzenith750original ↗

I’m a HUGE fan of these @isotunesaudio PRO Bluetooth headphones. Sweat and dust-proof with a 27db noise reduction rating. Hard to spend hours in the hangar airplane building without them. #myzenith750original ↗

This mornings project is adding access panels in places that should probably become standard locations for them on this airplane. I don’t like having areas that are inaccessible without having to drill out rivets. #myzenith750original ↗

Every once in a while something takes way longer than planned. This seat pan took more than two hours to get situated in its final place. #planebuilderproblems #myzenith750original ↗

I left the pilot side top wing skin off to run electrical and pitot lines on this side. All done so it’s wing rivet day. #myzenith750original ↗

I’ve stuck to the plans for the most part. Every once in a while there’s a thing I want that’s not standard. Like a removable pitot tube. Super happy with the way this came out. #myzenith750original ↗

Okay engineers, anyone have a better method for making a 122mm hole in my wing skin? #myzenith750original ↗

Needed some work done inside the rear fuselage and I don’t get close to fitting in the access panel. Caleb to the rescue. #myzenith750original ↗

I need to make a YouTube video on things I wish I’d known before I started building this thing. For example, Milwaukee makes a cordless rivet puller that I now own but wish I had bought the first day. #myzenith750original ↗

I have seen a few flying models of this plane where they left the seats unpadded and uncovered. I don’t care how tough you think you are, nothing says uncomfortable like flying in a plane with lawn chair seating. Fancy memory foam and fine material covering for this guy. Soon. #myzenith750original ↗

I’ve been working on this plane too long to not yet have been able to sit in it and make airplane noises. Seems like a good time to make the seats. Now I just need to relearn how to use a sewing machine. #myzenith750original ↗

We moved to the North Carolina Mountains 8 years ago and it felt like quite a risky move at the time. I’ve never grown tired of my daily 3 mile walk loop even though I’ve seen some of these scenes a thousand times.original ↗

We had to take our Russian Blue cat Valentine to the vet today for a minor issue. This is more complicated than it seems these days. Instructions involved leaving her at the door after calling to announce we had arrived. She was not amused but is now back at home and just knocked my toothpaste tube off the counter while meowing at me for attention. Must be feeling better.original ↗
